Default New Event Item: Miniature Transmogrifier

Ok... there was a thread talking about disguises, they suggested they could be the second birthday presents.

Now we know they are not.

So... I had this idea:

An even item that, for a certain amount of time, turns you into the miniature you are currently showing.

- You'll have to be showing a miniature to be able to use the item. If you are not showing a miniature, the potion would have no effect.
- When you use the potion, the shown miniature 'banishes' and you turn into it. So there won't be problems about loading and such, since the model is already loaded as a miniature.
- The miniature would remain in the inventory unaffected. You won't lose a miniature by doing this, of course.
- While under the disguise effect, you can't use any other miniatures or potions, much like when you try to use two different transmogrifiying potions in a row.
- When the effect ends, your miniature won't be shown. So that way others would have a chance to show theirs and use their potions.
- Since there is a limit of 20 miniatures per area, the area will never get filled with disguised people.
- You only will be able to disguise as one of your miniatures. More reasons to gather them.
- You'll disguise as a version of creature of the same level as you, so there won't be many huge creatures in outposts, since Level 20 creatures are not very big. A level 1 character who shows her Kuunavang would disguise a level 1 Saltpray dragon... (Remember Shiny, Gorem's adopted Dragon?)
- You'll have to use a limited item to do so, so people won't be able to disguise anytime they want, only as long as they have enough potions.

This would be the perfect final item for Halloween and Carnival events.
You make whichever quests or trophy collecting required to get the item, and you get potions you can use to disguise as your favorite miniature for some time. Maybe 20 minutes or so.

I'm not quite understanding this, so let me try and rephrase it and see if it's right.

1. I take my Ritualist to Shing Jea and drop down my Rollerbeetle.
2. I drink a tonic.
3. My Rollerbeetle disappears, and my character turns into the Rollerbeetle.
4. For 20 minutes, I am disguised as that miniature.
5. After the 20 minutes are up, I turn back into my Ritualist.

That's right, yes? But I think the part I'm not quite understanding is When the effect ends, your miniature won't be shown. So that way others would have a chance to show theirs and use their potions.

Are you saying that your disguise counts as a miniature? That doesn't quite make sense to me. I don't see why it wouldn't just be counted as another player.

I agree it would make a great Halloween potion.

That would rock -- being able to "become" a miniature you have as a transmogrifier type "costume" (-:

i would love this but i do agree with Shayne Hawke that this should just be another player and not a minuature.

That would be to prevejnt someone from keeping a miniature slot.

You use the potion, you miniature becomes 'unshown' as when you double-click it, and when the efect ends, another player has a chance to show his and show off.

Yet you can have a district full of Elves/Candy Corn people. I think that limiting the number of people turned into miniatures is pointless. It should be that once they use the Tonic, their mini is counted as "put away" and someone else can use theirs.

I think you misunderstood the problem with having too many minis. Minis use different programming from people, most likely causing them to take up more server resources than a player.
However, a player with the skin of a monster has just about the same effect as a normal player, since it's uncommon for an outpost to have more than one person that looks exactly the same as another (take armor, face, hair, skin tone, hair colour and armor colour into consideration).

Oh, it's not the same having 50 times the same model than 10 times different models.

That's why the Miniature limit exists. And this will just go with that limit. It does not add more.

That was bound to happen after the link posting.

On one hand I like the idea, on the other I hate the thought of so many weird creatures running around.

I'm also of the opinion these aesthetics should be rare and restricted to the very rich or lucky which imo makes them cool in the first place. The rarity is a big part of what makes them both desirable and cool to see around.

I've noticed in GW when aesthetic or vanity rewards become too easy to obtain they become eyesores, chaos gloves after the SF buff being a great example.

The limit is already in-game: Tonics Had to acquire (Maybe only in few rewards chests) and the already 20 pets per district limit.

As anytime someone brings back one of my old threads: Poll added.

Hm... that's a good one too... models can change sizes in GW, as you can easily see with minions.

Maybe you should make another thread for that.
